Fania Records - The Early Years (1963-1972)

From the late 60's to the early 70's New York City bario come the legendary sounds of Fania Records.

Considered as “the Motown of salsa” the label features releases by Ray BarrettoCelia CruzTito Puente,Pete RodriguezJoe Cuba Sextet, and Joe Bataan.

It’s recordings have defined what has become known as salsa music, combining elements of tropical music with the swing of big band jazz, and the gritty vibe of American R&B. Surprisingly, many of these early Fania songs were sung in English!

Now in the process of re-releasing and re-mastering its catalog, Fania is preparing to introduce these salsa greats to a whole new generation.
